I am back with my annual LOVE workshop at Britannia Community Centre in East Vancouver, BC.
This year we will be creating pieces to LOVE BOMB the neighbourhood with.
Want to live in a world with more love & less hate? Come to the workshop & help create it!

LOVE Bomombing Workshop

A workshop designed to inspire the creative spirit and to spread the LOVE.

Lead by East Van artist, paula luther

Inspired by LOVE, random acts of kindness and community, this workshop will focus on the distribution of hand-crafted messages throughout the neighbourhood.

Imagine messages of LOVE scattered, simple messages of LOVE posted, ephemeral messages of LOVE made from natural and biodegradable materials.

A Love Supreme :: 50th anniversary

John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' has been one of the most profound LOVE influences for me.  I have been listening to this recording every day for 20+ years.  I always feel lighter & brighter, it is a great heart opener.

Today, December 9, 2014, marks the 50th anniversary of its recording.  Enjoy!

If you are in the Vancouver area, please join us on Thursday, December 11, 2014, for a special celebration of A Love Supreme.  NOW Society celebrates A Love Supreme

The Now Society invites you to a special celebration of the
50th anniversary of A Love Supreme.

Merge - NE corner of Powell and Clark, Vancouver (ring bell)
doors @ 7:30pm
music @ 8:00pm
$15
includes admission + NOW Orchestra cd

In keeping of the spirit of melding forms & sensibilities, and propelling music forward, we will be treated to a performance of Onomatopoeia by Orkestra Futura in the first set, and a second set inspired by the music of John Coltrane.

set one:
DB boyko - voice
Skye Brooks - drums
Mike Dowler – bass clarinet
Chad MacQuarrie - guitar
Lisa Cay Miller - piano
Russell Sholberg - bass

set two:
John Paton - tenor sax
Lisa Cay Miller - piano
André LaChance - bass
Dylan van der Schyff - drums

Onomatopoeia is a musical score for improvised orchestra, based on the graphic novel by Gary Wildeman, a NOW Society commission. The ensemble will be interpreting the comic strip as a graphic score, giving musical life to the movement of the characters, and orchestrating the onomatopeaic dialogue. A truly unique & innovative piece!

Proceeds from the evening will go towards the upcoming recording of Onomatopoeia.
